About Us

Bienvenidos a todos!

We first and foremost would like to welcome all of you, our friends, family, and faithful future followers, to the beginning of our journey. To some who know us, this really is just a continuation of a journey, and we like to think of it that way too, because not only have we felt as though our life together so far has been an adventure, both breath-taking and breath-giving in many ways. As many of you know, our next destination is Cusco, Peru. Actually technically our next destination is Oropesa, Peru, a small town outside Cusco where our new home will be Azul Wasi, or, "the Blue House", home to various orphaned boys of all ages who we hope to be able to care for, love, and make a difference for even if it is in some small way.

In fact that brings me to our blog title, Kettle Negro (or Kettle Black). For those who have maybe started to pick up on it, congratulations! While trying to think of a creative and descriptive name, one saying that Dana particularly liked, and that I have since warmed up to, "The pot calling the kettle black". What are we getting at you say? Well, we thought it was fitting to our goal and purpose for this particular trip and for our life in general. We believe that even though our country of origin and language and life circumstances may be different, in the grand scheme of things we are just like every one else. We hope to be able to bridge the gap, actually to get rid of the gap altogether, at least for ourselves anyways, and we invite you to follow along with us and embrace the people of this tiny planet earth. After all, it's people who are the real reason we're all here in the first place.

Please follow along and look for our updates which will be coming soon. Although we haven't arrived there yet, the Oropesa phase of the Journey really has begun. There's lots of interesting prep that has been going on and we plan to keep you informed! Stay tuned!

Bienvenidos al Kettle Negro!
